The extraordinary gold chrome surface shows an authentic, matured patina, which was intentionally preserved as a historical document. To secure this condition for the long term and protect the metal from oxidation, the entire bike was preserved with micro-crystalline wax. This acid-free special wax is used in professional museum conservation to seal surfaces airtight without changing the visual characteristics of the patina. All mechanical components were disassembled, cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, and professionally lubricated for smooth operation.
