History:

Bianchi is not just a bicycle manufacturer; it is the epitome of Italian cycling romance. Founded in 1885 by Edoardo Bianchi in a small shop on Via Nirone in Milan, Bianchi is the oldest existing bicycle brand in the world. From the heroic victories of Costante Girardengo and the immortal duels of Fausto Coppi to the triumphant successes of Marco Pantani—cycling history was written on the legendary frames from Treviglio.

While Bianchi is most famous for its iconic "Celeste" green, the brand showed great courage for progressive designs in the late 1980s and early 1990s. With the Caurus series, Bianchi presented sporty road bikes that made the legendary Italian ride feel and race-proven geometry accessible to a broader audience. The Caurus 840 is an excellent example of this era: an agile, characterful road bike that impressively brings the fascination and sporty DNA of the traditional brand to the road.

Description:

This Bianchi Caurus 840 is based on a robust and extremely durable Oria Hi-Tension steel tubeset. This tubeset is characterized by a wonderful balance of high riding comfort and commanding stability, providing an outstanding, planted ride feel on long rides as well as in urban environments. Far from the classic Celeste, the frame presents itself in an extremely striking, period-correct paint scheme: a vibrant neon pink dynamically fades into a deep black on the top tube and fork. The black Bianchi lettering and the concise "Caurus 840" typography stylishly round off the extravagant 90s look.

A complete Shimano Exage groupset ensures sporty and precise performance. This groupset combines proven Japanese engineering with high reliability and durable mechanics. The gears shift crisply via the downtube shifters, while the Exage brake calipers provide reliable and powerful stopping power. The wheelset consists of robust Ambrosio Elite aluminum rims, fitted with smooth-rolling Michelin Dynamic Classic tires featuring elegant tan walls. A high-quality ITM cockpit, grippy black handlebar tape, and a classic black saddle harmonize perfectly with the sporty overall appearance.

Condition:

Pre-owned. The Bianchi Caurus 840 is in a pleasingly beautiful and exceptionally well-maintained overall condition. In the Goldensteelcycles workshop, the classic bike underwent a thorough inspection and careful refresh. The Oria Hi-Ten steel frame is structurally flawless, tracks perfectly straight, and is free of dents or cracks. The bold original paint shows light, authentic signs of life but has been intensively cleaned and polished with premium carnauba wax, allowing the vibrant neon pink to unfold a great depth and brilliance once again.

The complete Shimano Exage groupset was carefully cleaned, freshly oiled, and cleanly adjusted so that the shifting operates smoothly and the brakes respond well. The headset and bottom bracket were inspected and relubricated as needed. Essential wear parts such as the complete shift and brake cables with housings, the black bar tape, and the Michelin tires were entirely replaced during the reconditioning. An immediately ready-to-ride retro racer that inspires across the board with its charm and great riding dynamics.
