History:

Behind the F. Moser brand stands one of the most charismatic and successful bicycle racers in Italian history: Francesco Moser. With over 270 professional victories, including three consecutive triumphs at the Spring Classic Paris-Roubaix, winning the Giro d'Italia in 1984, and claiming the World Championship title in 1977, "Lo Sceriffo" (The Sheriff) dominated cycling for an entire decade. Towards the end of his active career in 1979, he founded his own bicycle manufacture in Trento alongside his brother Aldo, turning his meticulous visions of the perfect racing machine into reality.

Within the pro peloton, the Moser brand quickly became synonymous with technological pioneering and uncompromising performance. Francesco Moser was obsessed with aerodynamics and biomechanics—a relentless pursuit that culminated in his legendary 1984 hour record in Mexico City, where he broke the magical 50-kilometer mark on a radical aerodynamic frame with disc wheels. This unprecedented innovative strength flowed directly into series production in the following years. F. Moser equipped renowned world-class teams such as Chateau d'Ax, Gatorade, and Ariostea. Cycling greats like Gianni Bugno celebrated monumental victories on these frames, making the brand immortal. An F. Moser road bike from this era represents Italian frame-building artistry at the very highest level, paired with the irrepressible will to win of its namesake.

Description:

This authentic F. Moser road bike from the late 1980s is based on an in-house Moser Junior steel tubeset, which impresses with its well-proportioned balance of reliable torsional stiffness and damping ride comfort. Visually, the chassis is an absolute eye-catcher: The dynamic paint scheme combines a radiant white base with deep blue and striking yellow color gradients, rounded off by the characteristic F. Moser lettering. The fully chromed fork with fine Moser engravings on the fork crown harmonizes perfectly with the completely chromed rear triangle, emphasizing the high manufacturing standards of the Trentino workshop.

The shifting and braking systems rely on a matching Shimano 600 Tricolor groupset (6400 series). This setup features the classic 2x7 gearing, which is operated precisely and directly via the Shimano 600 downtube shifters. Aerodynamic efficiency is provided by the elegantly profiled Shimano 600 Aero seatpost. The wheelset combines durable Shimano 600 hubs with dark grey anodized Wolber TX Profil box-section rims, mounted with high-quality Maxxis Pursuer tires featuring brown tan walls. The sporty finish is provided by the original Selle Italia saddle in white with dynamic blue stripes, seamlessly continuing the frame's color concept.

Condition:

Pre-owned. The road bike fascinates with an outstanding degree of preservation and has been completely mechanically rebuilt with the utmost dedication as part of our restoration processes. The Moser Junior steel frame has excellent substance; it is absolutely straight, dimensionally stable, and shows no dents or cracks. The extravagant multi-color paintwork and the abundant chrome surfaces on the fork and rear triangle were gently cleaned by hand, intensively polished, and permanently protected with a brilliant hard wax, allowing the colors to radiate deeply and richly once again.

All components of the Shimano 600 Tricolor group were carefully disassembled, freed from old residues in an ultrasonic bath, provided with fresh lubricants according to manufacturer specifications, and exactly adjusted. The headset and bottom bracket underwent a complete service, packed with new quality grease, and adjusted completely play-free. To guarantee reliability and riding pleasure for the coming years, all cables and housings, the bright yellow bar tape, and the Maxxis Pursuer tires were completely replaced during reassembly. A technically flawless and visually captivating Italian classic, fully prepared to hit the road immediately.
