Fausto Coppi Vintage Track Bike 1960s

€2.199,90 EUR

History:

Fausto Coppi was a legendary Italian cyclist, known as "Il Campionissimo" - the champion of champions. His impressive skills in climbing, time trialing, and sprinting led him to numerous victories, including 5 wins at the Giro d'Italia, 2 at the Tour de France, and the World Championship in 1953. He also holds the record for the hour record (45.798 km) set in 1942. Other notable achievements include 5 wins at the Giro di Lombardia and 3 at the Milan-San Remo. With his dominance both before and after World War II, Fausto Coppi remains a legendary figure in cycling.

During the late 1950s, Fausto Coppi took a daring risk and began producing his own iconic Italian racing bicycles. Despite his passing from malaria fever in 1960, the contract he made with Fiorelli in Novi Ligure to manufacture under his name remained valid, and the production of Fausto Coppi branded bicycles continued. Eventually, the brand was acquired by Masciaghi, who enlisted legendary frame-builder Pelizzoli to design their frames in the early 1990s. Victories once again graced Coppi bikes, as their Team Polti achieved incredible success, including late 1990s wins on their signature bikes.
