The Italian professional cyclist Marino Basso came to great sucess when he won the world championships in 1972. He achieved a reputation as a first-class sprinter and gathered up to 80 wins during his carrer. After his active years he built up a company called Cicli Basso together with his two brothers Renato and Alcide. Marino brought his knowledge of how a bike should feel and his two brothers managed the finacal and the technical aspects. The brand quickly gained a good reputation and grew in size. Still today a this famous Italian Brand stands for high quality bikes.
