Francesco Moser Classic Road Bicycle - 1980s Italian Steel Masterpiece - Campagnolo Victory
History:
Francesco Moser, one of the most successful cyclists in history, founded his eponymous company in the late 1970s in Trento, Italy. Throughout his career, Moser celebrated 273 victories—including the Giro d’Italia, Paris-Roubaix, and the World Championship—and he channeled this profound racing experience directly into the development of his frames. A milestone in the company's history came in 1984, when Francesco Moser broke the hour world record in Mexico City, reaching 51.151 kilometers on a technologically revolutionary time-trial bike. This success left a lasting mark on the brand's image, making this vintage velo a highly sought-after object for connoisseurs. Frames from this era are considered masterpieces of Italian craftsmanship, built from the highest quality materials of the time.
Description:
This mid-1980s Moser road bike is a tribute to the master's glorious record-breaking years and a true collector's item for lovers of classic steel road bikes. The foundation is a high-quality frame made of Columbus SL tubing, the reference material for professional racing bikes of that epoch. The bike is equipped with a complete Campagnolo Victory group, which stands out for its extraordinary level of detail: almost all components—from the rear derailleur and front derailleur to the crankset—feature elaborate Francesco Moser signatures and pantographs. The stem of the 3T (Tecno Tubo Torino) combination also bears the matching engraving. For a first-class ride, the bike features rare Galli Criterium rims fitted with new Vittoria Rally tubular tires. A technically and visually harmonious masterpiece that perfectly embodies the era of modern frame building.
Condition:
Used. This specimen was rebuilt at Goldensteelcycles with a commitment to technical perfection and is fully Eroica-ready. The frame has been inspected for structural integrity and is perfectly aligned, free of defects such as cracks or dents. For the restoration, the bike was completely disassembled into its individual parts so that every component could undergo a thorough deep cleaning in an ultrasonic bath. Following the technical inspection, all moving parts were reassembled and fine-tuned using high-quality lubricants. To ensure the riding comfort of a classic racing bike, all wear parts were consistently replaced: this includes the chain, the tubular tires, the handlebar tape, and all cables including their housings. The result is an authentic classic that remains in a technical condition that leaves nothing to be desired.
