Diamant Classic Steel Racing Bicycle – 1990s – Shimano 600 Tricolor
History:
The Belgian brand Diamant looks back on a long-standing history in professional cycling. Founded in the early decades of the 20th century, the manufacture quickly established itself as a staple in the Belgian peloton. The international sporting breakthrough came during the 1970s and 1980s. The brand gained great prestige through riders like the Belgian World Championship runner-up Eddy Planckaert, who celebrated remarkable successes on Diamant frames in the toughest spring classics. Diamant always distinguished itself through direct cooperation with professional athletes, allowing geometric innovations to flow directly into the handcrafted frame production. Up into the 1990s, a steel frame manufactured by Diamant was considered by racers to be the epitome of directional stability and uncompromising reliability on the demanding cobblestone sections of Flanders
Description:
This handcrafted Belgian road bike represents the classic racing geometry of the early 1990s and stands out with an extremely consistent color concept. The foundation is the perfectly crafted and traditionally lugged steel frame. A true eye-catcher is the flowing paintwork, which is finished in harmoniously coordinated shades of blue. This theme is perfectly matched and completed by blue Michelin Dynamic Sport tires and an exactly color-coordinated blue handlebar tape.
The mechanical equipment consists of a complete Shimano 600 Ultegra Tricolor groupset (8-speed), highly valued in the scene for its excellent indexing and indestructible construction. Another highlight of the build is the premium wheelset: the installed Mavic SUP CXP 30 rims with their distinctive V-profile bring late-90s aerodynamics to the bike and blend seamlessly into the overall appearance. An ergonomic cockpit from the iconic Italian brand 3T (Techno Tubo Torino) and the sporty Selle Italia Kevlar saddle in blue complete this well-rounded classic.
Condition:
Used. As part of an extensive project, this Diamant was rebuilt from the ground up at Goldensteelcycles. The sturdy steel frame convinces with a well-maintained overall visual appearance and is completely free of dents, cracks, or bends. To perfectly bring out the deep gloss of the original blue paintwork, the surface was thoroughly cleaned by hand, gently refurbished, and sealed with a protective layer of hard wax. All components of the Shimano 600 Tricolor groupset were completely disassembled for the overhaul, cleared of old residues in an ultrasonic bath, and reassembled with fresh lubricant for smooth operation. A thoroughly honest and immediately ready-to-ride classic.
