Francesco Moser Team SLX – Vintage Steel Road Bike – Campagnolo Chorus – 1990s
History:
Francesco Moser ranks among the most illustrious and successful figures in international cycling history. Following a remarkable professional career highlighted by winning the 1984 Giro d’Italia, the 1977 Road World Championship, and three consecutive victories at the grueling Paris–Roubaix cobbles, he established his own bicycle manufacture in Trento. Moser captured global attention in 1984 in Mexico City by breaking the Hour Record, pioneering the integration of aerodynamics, specialized disc wheels, and avant-garde frame geometries.
Moser brought this relentless drive for innovation and direct power transfer straight into his frame workshop. Under the Costruzione Telai Speciali designation, the Trento facility crafted competition frames tailored for elite athletes and sponsored teams. During the 1980s and 1990s, Moser frames stood out among the most technologically advanced in the professional peloton: proprietary rear-triangle stiffening, precise hand-brazing, and aerodynamically refined details established them as sought-after high-performance machines for licensed racers and vintage engineering purists.
Description:
Originating from Moser’s specialized racing workshop, this bicycle is built upon the premier Team SLX model from the first half of the 1990s. The backbone of the build is the iconic Columbus SLX Cyclex steel tubeset, designed with internal helical reinforcements at critical junctions to ensure maximum torsional stiffness during explosive efforts. Aesthetically, the frame stands out with its two-tone livery in classic white and vibrant metallic magenta, accented by chromed chainstays, chromed dropouts, and a fully chromed steel fork engraved with the Moser insignia.
The build is outfitted with a matching Campagnolo Chorus groupset. Gear shifting is executed directly via ergonomic Campagnolo Chorus Ergopower levers on the handlebars, working seamlessly with the Chorus rear and front derailleurs. Braking performance is handled by classic Campagnolo Chorus calipers. The hand-built wheelset combines durable Campagnolo Chorus hubs with dark anthracite Campagnolo Omega 19 box-section clincher rims, shod with Vittoria Zaffiro Pro folding tires. A Cinelli cockpit and a clean white Ritchey Comp saddle complete this fast Italian machine.
Condition:
Pre-owned. The road bike is in outstanding overall condition and has undergone a complete, meticulous restoration and mechanical overhaul in the Goldensteelcycles workshop. The Columbus SLX steel frame is perfectly aligned, structurally sound, and entirely free of cracks, dents, or twists. The original paintwork and all chrome sections on the fork and rear stays have been deep-cleaned, polished to a mirror shine, and protected with premium sealant.
Every Campagnolo Chorus component was disassembled, ultrasonic cleaned, freshly lubricated, and calibrated. All bearing assemblies across the headset, bottom bracket, and wheel hubs were fully serviced, repacked with fresh grease, and tuned play-free. During the rebuild, all wear-and-tear parts along with the complete cable routing were replaced. A finely tuned, authentic Italian thoroughbred with modern ergonomics, fully prepared for immediate road use.
